PURPOSE OF THE CLARKSVILLE JUNIOR GOLF TOUR

The CJGT was created to allow the young players of our region to play in events at area golf courses, to develop and improve their golfing skills, to encourage friendships between players, to learn the rules and etiquette of the game, and to develop a love for the great game of golf.

RULES OF THE CLARKSVILLE JUNIOR GOLF TOUR

1. All players must attend the Rules and Etiquette Seminar and/or pass the written exam for the TOUR prior to playing in any TOUR event.

2. Players will show respect for property and for each other, and all players will display good sportsmanship.

3. Any player who displays anger by throwing equipment, endangering others, or uses foul language will be expelled from the TOUR.

4. Play will be conducted by the USGA Rules of Golf. The ball is played as it lies.

5. The use of tobacco, alcohol or drugs by any player will result in expulsion from the TOUR.

6. Soft spikes are mandatory. Traditional steel spiked golf shoes are not allowed. Collared shirts are to be worn at all CJGT events.

7. The CJGT Committee is the final word in all decisions relating to the TOUR.

TOUR FORMAT AND SCHEDULE

Players must be 8 years of age, and not older than 18 years of age, as of June 7, 2009 to be eligible to play on the TOUR. Competition is based on skill level rather than age, so that all players are encouraged to play their best at all times. The girls will play against other girls of any age and will not, therefore, compete head to head with boys. Girls and boys may, however, be paired together in groups. Players will furnish their own equipment, but the TOUR will try to help in equipment location and donation on an as-needed basis. Short shorts and T-shirts are not allowed. Players must carry their own bags or use a pull cart.

There will be a total of four competitive TOUR events. All events will consist of from 3 to 18 holes depending upon skill level. Players will compete in DIVISIONS based on scoring, and winners will be determined by a points system based upon the players' best finishes in three events. Players will get one point for each event contested. Maximum additional points are ten (10) for each event. If a player finishes first, or tied for first, in an event he will receive a total of eleven (11) points for that event. If he finishes tenth, or tied for tenth, he gets one additional point or a total of two (2) points for the event.

Weekly division winners will be awarded trophies and TOUR division winners will be awarded trophies and merchandise. ALL PLAYERS will be awarded prizes and LUNCH IS PROVIDED for all contestants at each event.

SCHEDULE OF TOUR EVENTS

TEE TIMES FOR ALL EVENTS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE LEAF-CHRONICLE NEWSPAPER THE SUNDAY PRIOR TO EACH MONDAY EVENT

TEE TIMES WILL ALSO BE POSTED ON CLARKSVILLESPOTLIGHT.COM

Players are encouraged to play in every event but are welcome to play in any event. To be eligible for Division winner, a player must obtain the most points
and this requires play in at least three events. The cost of the TOUR is $25 per entrant payable by no later than the first event entered. We encourage early payment to simplify our records. The cost for any single event is $25.

No player will be allowed to compete until a parent or guardian has signed the appropriate entry form!

END OF TOURNAMENT AWARDS BANQUET

The awards banquet will be held on June 23, 2009 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Dunn Center on the APSU campus.

GALLERIES AND PARENTS

Parents and other interested parties are encouraged to come watch our players. The TOUR does, however, reserve the right to ask spectators to observe rules of good behavior, and we may ask a disruptive spectator to leave the golf course.

The Tour wishes to promote the game of golf and the development of each participant and to share the pride we all have in our children. Parents are not to coach their children during an event.

APPRECIATION

The TOUR thanks the children for playing in our events. We thank the PGA professionals and other personnel at all of the golf courses on the TOUR. Thanks go to the many volunteers crucial to the success of the TOUR.

Thanks also to the multitude of corporate and individual sponsors for their donations.

A special thanks to the Billy Daniel Junior Golf Foundation for its help in financing the Clarksville Junior Golf Tour.
